Damper
= Shock absorber - A device that dampens suspnsion movments
in an attepmt to keep the tire in consistant contact with
the ground.
Damper = Shock
absorber - measurements - Front,
Rear.
Driveline
= Drive shaft = Propeller shaft = Prop shaft - The components
which together transmit power from the transmission to the
drive axle(s). These consist of at least one driveshaft with
a universal joint at each end.
Drivetrain
- The combination of mechanisms connecting the engine to the
driven wheels, typically the transmission, driveshaft (propeller
shaft), differential and axls in a rear wheel driven vehicle.

Gross Horsepower = Engine
horsepower = Horse power at the flywheel - This figure is
the output of the engine on it's own. This can me measured
by mounting and engine in a special figure to use with a dynometer
(most accurate) or calculated from net or wheel horsepower.
This figure does not take into account power loss in the drivetrain.
Typical power losses can be from 10-30% drivetrain defendant.

Kg/mm
- A unit of measure. Commonly used to describe the stiffness
of a spring. 56 kg/mm = 1 lb/in approximately.

Horsepower = Wheel horsepower - A horsepower rating measured
at the driven wheels. This in turn includes drivetrain losses
and shows a power output for the entire vehicle not just the
engine.
