Drivetrain:
07-11-02 - While I was waiting
for brake parts I decided to go to my favorite junk yard.
It paid off. I found a later production Toyota Corolla GTS
(AE86). I looked under the rear and what is it I did see.
A sticker saying LSD staring right back at me. So this was
the sought after t283 differential with disc brakes and limited
slip. Decided to come back early the next day to pull at least
the diff.
07-12-02 - Got to the yard
early for a long day of wrenching. I pulled the rear end and
the bottom suspension arms were a big pain. I had to remove
the caliper, disc, brake line, and dust shield bolts in order
to rotate the shield around so I could get a good hit with
a big hammer. The connection on the body had the frame in
the way so that wouldn't have worked. Other than that the
rear came out easy. The transmission only had one difficult
bolt to get to while it was in the car. Near the top of the
transmission under the intake manifold. Luckily I had a second
ratchet that was long enough to break it free but not to long
to get hung up. I got the transmission to engine extra support
brackets and then called it a day.
07-13-02 - 3rd day of junkyard
fun. I pulled the flywheel, starter, engine to trans plate
and clutch pedal off.
